I know today marks a very bittersweet day for many. Summer is over and school has started (cheers & tears;) Brady & Brooklyn actually started school on August 1st. The school districts in our area are on a modified year -round school schedule. They start in August, get two weeks off in October, two weeks off in December and school is out in May.
This year, Brady started Pre-K and Brooklyn started Preschool. They are at the same school and we absolutely love it! I am in complete awe of how much Brady has learned in just one month. He’s just a little sponge absorbing everything he can. He is happy when I drop him off and happy when I pick him up, what more could I ask for?? Brooklyn, on the other hand still gets upset when I drop her off, but the teachers assure me that it only lasts a few minutes. They also mentioned she is very ‘articulate’ in letting them know what she wants and doesn’t want…I can only imagine, lol!
If you follow me on Instagram you know how much I love to celebrate holidays and special occasions. I started setting up a little breakfast table a couple of years ago to kick off Christmas, and the return of Elliot (our elf on the shelf). If you want to see more of the kids’ festive tables, check out #bugandbrookiestable.
I thought it would be fun to celebrate the first day of school with a fun and festive breakfast table. I have always loved to make and create things, and over the years I have acquired a lot of craft stuff. Whenever I set-up one of these tables I raid my craft closet and try to use what I already have. I usually end up buying a few extras, and the Target dollar section is my go-to for that;)
Their “Back to School” breakfast was a hit, and we continued the celebrations with after school ice cream:) Cheers to a fabulous new school year!
