If you follow me on Instagram you probably saw a sneak peak of my mommy and me photoshoot this year. Two years ago I decided that all I wanted for Mother’s Day were some beautiful pictures with my kids…homemade cards and breakfast in bed are also really appreciated;) I told my husband and he loved the idea. First, he didn’t have to try to come up with gift ideas, and second, he didn’t even have to be in the pictures, lol!
I love these mommy and me sessions and it has become something I look forward to each year. I mean, after were done I’m exhausted and need a glass bottle of wine…who’s with me? Pictures can be stressful, but the end result is well worth it. I, like my most moms am never in pictures with my kids. I take lots of pictures of my kids, my husband with my kids, grandparents with my kids, even the dog with my kids, but you’ll find very few of me with my kids. Why? Because I’m always the one taking them, or I haven’t washed my hair in a few days, or I’m in workout clothes (p.s. I don’t work out).
While I’m trying to get better about being in pictures with my kids, old habits die hard. I know they will appreciate having photos of all of us together regardless of what I look like. However, putting on a pretty dress, washing my hair and putting on make up sure helps;) When I look at these photos I see all the magic of motherhood and I hope in the future my kids will too. They are something I will treasure forever. If you’re in Arizona please be sure to check out my friend Holli who shot these beautiful images. She is incredibly talented and super fun to work with. Below are some of my favorites from this year! For those of that messaged me about my dress, it’s a vintage dress from a local boutique, but I have linked some similar ones below.
